There's been something bothering me on here for a while
There's a lot of unfair hatred and stereotyping towards rap on deviantart. I've seen about 5 or 6 stamps at the least saying how rap sucks.
But the fact is, the rap that isn't played on MTV or the radio is actually good. People judge the whole genre due to the crap that gets played on the mainstream. This stamp goes out to all the true rap fans out there that see the mainstream BS for what it is and want to show their support for the underground.
I agree. Some of the mainstream is ok, though. Most of it just fuels the stereotyping though. I listen to rap. I like certain artists who have lyrical prowess. Some artists are really talented at expressing things through their lyrics. One good example is Eminem. If you've heard "Mockingbird", or "When I'm gone", then you'll understand why I say this. (though lately, he's gotten more into satirical and comical songs) For those that generalize and base their opinion off of most of the crap on TV and the radio, then you aren't giving it a fair chance. There are a lot of rap songs out there that are great and have meaning. Not that BS about hoes, bitches, sex, drugs, and violence. (though, even some of those can have meaning)
ugh i kno..ppl are loosing the ability to make lyrics about things thatactually affect or happen in real life, sure there could be a few songs about robotas and stuff but there has to be the good get-you-into-the-music lyrics that also make you think a little

I love this stamp so much. I get a lot of flak for listening to rap, because people assume that all rap is like the mainstream BS you hear on the radio today. I listen to older rap like Biggie, Tupac and Nas, Eminem(the only mainstream rap artist I like), and underground stuff like Atmosphere. Rap is a form of music and self-expression, just like any other genre.
THANK YOU. This is great. I may be in high school, but I'm definitely a fan of old school. I don't get all the dA rap hate, but hey, freedom of speech.
Thanks and fav.

I'm a metalhead, and I agree with this People are just too close minded to think that there's rap out there that isn't pop-rap like the mainstream shit. You just gotta dig deeper to find the good stuff or go classic, like 2Pac, Immortal Technique, Nas, etc.
